Playing with Inks

Hi Everyone

I've been playing with Distress Inks and having a wonderful time getting really inky hands. More ink on my hands than on the card!! I will never stop being surprised at the great results you can get from just playing with different colour inks on plain white or cream card. I also tried putting the inked cards through the Big Shot with different embossing folders and also tried some heat embossing. This card is for my niece's birthday next week, and I am really pleased with it. ( I hope she is too!)

The background started life as a Very Vanilla piece of card, which I inked with a couple of different colours of Distress Inks. I then put it through the Big Shot with a swirly embossing folder.  I wanted the swirls debossed so that I could then go round the swirls with an embossing pen and embossed with gold powder. . I used a Framelits die to cut out the large label, which I again inked with Distress Inks. I stamped on it with the script stamp from the Charming stamp set and also stamped and gold embossed the swirl from Everything Eleanor ( love this set!). I stamped the label from Everything Eleanor onto black card using Versamark, then brushed over some Perfect Pearls. I also stamped and gold embossed the swirl again. The sentiment is from Sincere Salutations. The finishing touch was a little paper flower with one of the beautiful Antique brads in the centre.

Bad Blogger

Hi Everyone

I've been a bad blogger again! It's been a month since I last posted anything, so I've got 3 projects to share with you today

I've been playing with French Foliage again, and came up with a card and a tag. I've used Sahara Sand card, which I have recently fallen in love with. Also Bravo Burgundy card, which is a brilliant strong colour. The ribbon on the tag is Pear Pizazz seam binding.

My third project shows how you can start with an inky mess and turn it into a lovely topper. I recently bought an airbrush system and was spraying everything I could lay me hands on. I'd sprayed a scrap piece of Whisper White card with some yellow paint, and it really was just a yellow mess. I was about to throw it in the bin, when I changed my mind and decided to see what it would look like if I stamped some script and some flowers on it. It immediately started looking like something I could use on a card. I did a bit of inking around the edges, added some ribbon and a button, and hey presto, a card was born.

Medallion Stamp

Hi Everyone

Looks like the rain has stopped at last. I hope the weather is better by Friday as I'm going on a cruise to Amsterdam and Hamburg - and I'm not a good sailor! I'll have to take my Quells.

Here is a card using the marvelous Medallion Stamp. The background was made using Distress Inks and cut and dry foam. And I also used one of the beautiful Antique brads.

I've just been given a new camera, so hopefully my photography will be improving!

Happy Accidents

I have the really bad habit of putting things on top of my guillotine to get them out of my way, then when I go to cut something I accidentally cut the wrong things. Yesterday, I accidently snipped a corner off a piece of DSP and was determined not to waste it, so I tried it on this card. I couldn't have been more pleased with the result. I'm afraid I'm not so lucky with my photography as this is a really bad picture. I'll try again and put a better picture up if I can.

What a busy girl I've been

I have been busy in the craft room recently. I bought a load of new goodies at various craft shows recently, and am just getting around to trying them all out. This card is one of my favourites. Notice I managed to use a stamp from one of my free Sale-A-Bration sets as well.  The Outlined Occasions set is really great and I think I will use it a lot. Can't believe it was free!

More French Foliage

French Foliage is a stamp set I keep coming back to. I just love it. Here is a card I made yesterday. The sentiment is a stamp I found in my stash. The card layout was inspired by a card I saw on another blog. Sorry I can't remember which blog.

Sale-A-Bration Ending

I don't believe it,  Sale-A-Bration only has a couple of days left! Get your orders in quick - by 31st March - and get those free gifts. Friendly Words

Hi Everyone

I've only recently started to appreciate how good Stampin Around Wheels are. I bought the Friendly Words and the Very Vintage Jumbo Wheels and I love them both. This card uses the Friendly Words wheel  and also a stamp from the My Friend stamp set, which is in the Spring Mini.

Daisies and Leaves

I had a lazy Sunday, and spent the morning in the craft room. I should have been out doing some gardening as the weather was so nice, but instead I've made a garden themed card. I'm really loving my Big Shot at the moment, and particularly the Daisies #2 die and the Sizzlits Little Leaves. I seem to be using them on everything .  On this card I also used one of my favourite stamp sets French Foliage in the background.

Old Favourites

A stamp set that I go back to again and again is Pocket Silhouettes. I find this to be one of the most useful stamp sets ever.

White on White

I never would have thought of matting white onto white, but I recently saw this done on Create and Craft TV, and thought it looked really good. This is my effort, using the Square Lattice embossing folder, the Daisies #2 die, and also Little Leaves Sizzlit die. The sentiment is from the Marry Me stamp set which is in the Spring Mini catalogue.

Bad Blogger

Oh dear, what a terrible blogger I am. This is only my second post in almost a year, but I will try to improve on that from now on - shouldn't be too difficult!! I'm not working at the moment so should have a bit more time on my hands.
I recently bought the French Foliage stamp set, and I absolutely love it. Here is one of the cards I made.
